Completing this form is not a guarantee of acceptance. The expansion at each of our campuses is contingent on lease negotiations and hiring qualified teachers. More information can be found on our website.


An email will be sent within 3 weeks of completing the application indicating the application status.


Students need to be 5 by September 1, 2024.


At our Plum Campus we need more in our Primary and Middle School Grade Classrooms!

There are NO Open spots at our Franklin Park Campus 

There are NO open spots at our Washington Campus

There are NO open spots at our Hickory Campus. 


If applying for more than one student, the option for this will come after you have completed and saved the form for each student.

 

Application Form Fee

The application fee is $100 per student and is non-refundable. If you decide to withdraw your application after submitting, the fee will not be refunded. A lot of time, effort and prayers go into reviewing each application. 


You may pay either by credit card or by check/money order. Both forms of payments have processing fees, please pay the amount shown at the end of the application. 


Checks/money orders (No Cash) can be payable to A One-Room Schoolhouse and mailed to PO Box 263, Hickory, PA 15340. All check/money orders must be received within two weeks of completing the form. If not received, the application may be voided.

  • All information provided will be kept confidential among A One-Room Schoolhouse staff. The information will be used for individualizing curriculum decisions. 

Parent Information

Commitment to the Schoolhouse

We are looking for families that will be able to commit to completing lessons at home two days per week in math and language arts. Students in grades seventh and above will have additional homeschool work in science and history. Elective day students will also have some work to do at home like practicing an instrument, homework, or memorizing a speaking part.
A One-Room Schoolhouse is NOT A SCHOOL.

We are looking for families that will be able to commit to meeting their volunteer commitment in the classroom. For two and three day-a-week students that is once a month. (It is prorated down as you add siblings) For one day-a-week students that is every other month. You should plan on this volunteering to be done in person, during the schoolhouse day. Pennsylvania law requires all work with children to have volunteer clearances which will be required to turn into the Schoolhouse.

We are not set up to help students with severe disabilities or behavior problems. Be honest with your child's needs. It does no one any good if the classroom teacher needs to dismiss your student midway through the year. We are happy to work with many students with some special needs, but families must be forth coming and open about their child's needs. Choosing "yes" below, indicates that you have disclosed all relative learning needs in your application.
Finally, families should be ready to pay the tuition. We work so hard to keep fees low and are thankful to provide partial scholarships to many students, but we have found that it is important for families to be prepared for the financial commitment.
The current fees are:
$1,400 per school year for Tuesdays/Wednesdays
$600 per school year for Thursdays
$2,000 per school year for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays
